On Monday, we had to get up early to collect our car from Thrify at the CBD.
We were running a little late, and we took a tram there.
I ran a fever the night before for a while, fortunately it went down in the morning when I woke, but I had a sore throat coming in bad! :(
What a way to start our road trip. Sigh!
We got a car upgrade! This is a Mitsubishi (don't know what model sorry! the big kind)
Back to Em's place, loaded up our luggages and off for some lunch!
Didn't bother putting much make up coz I thought we were gonna be in the car most of the time haha.
He brought me to St. Ali's Coffee Roasters
This place is abit off from the town area, definitely need to know your way there or drive I think!
Our usual mocha and long black
Wasn't very happy with my food order, coz if I remember correctly, we could chose the type of eggs, bread and sides. The side I chose rocket salad, but what they gave me felt more like garnishings instead of sides. It's in Melbourne, where portions are thought to be huge! :(
Anyhow, food was still good!
We went to meet up his friend at Lygon Street (went there for 3 days in a row!) for a quick catch up, and we got on our way to Yarra Valley!
I love tunnels!
Didn't take very long for us to reach Yarra! I loveee the scenic drive!
We managed to find the place for us to check in (check in place and our homestay is different) thanks to Google Maps, because I recognized the roads from my research before hand!! Whoop whoop! Kudos to me.
The place we stayed is called Argyles Yarra Valley - Toolebewong Farmstay Cottages, and the one we stayed in is one of the four rustic farm stay cottages the owner has. Rose Cottage (A cosy open-plan cottage for two) was the one who had an offer for A$99 for a night, which was one of the cheapest and most decent looking that we could find. We later found out from the owner that there was actually a typo, and it was suppose to be $99 for a minimum for 2 nights! Phew, thank God really! Hah!
This is a website of the place: http://argyles.com.au/accommodation/four-rustic-farm-stay-cottages/rose-cottage/
A really pretty and what they call rustic feel to it. They even have a real fireplace! I felt that the toilet was a little creepy though heehee. I'm rather picky about my toilets... It was spacious but sparse, and the whole cave like thing going on made me a little uncomfortable. But that's just me!!
Put our luggages in and off we went for our next drive to Dandenong!
I entered the address for Mount Dandanong on Google Maps, passing by the Dandenong Ranges with the tall trees which I really wanted to see a lot but decided to skip (pressed for time you see!)
We came to a road with A LOT of pot holes it was pretty scary!!! Very kan chiong spider me is so afraid we'll damage the rental car that I was quite worried. I was so panicky that little did I realised.....
I am IN THE DANDENONG RANGES FOREST!!!!
This is what I see! But okay, not a good picture. There were the tallest of trees just lined along the roads, and it was sooo beautiful with the sun shining in... The trees were so tall, like sky high. It was then I finally stopped worrying and enjoyed the nature around me :)
And here we are, up at the Mount Dandenong!
Paid A$5 for our car to go in, and to freeze up there. It was sooooooooo brrrrrrr colddddd brrrrrr~~~
We had enough of scenery when we couldn't take the cold anymore. Hahah.
Our pants became dirty whenever we came out of the car as it rubbed by the side which had a lot of mud from the potholes driving through the forest!
We then went to drive pass Miss Marples, intially wanted to eat there but because of changes in last minute plans, we missed it and they were closed.
Then I keyed in the town address (Maroondah Highway) near our cottage into Google Maps..... which I didn't know that it was not the accurate address. There was another similar road name, but at another place! It took us to another Maroondah Highway, but not at Healesville where we were.
We drove for about a hour not realising, and then when we did, I felt soooo bad coz Chubs was tired & hungry! And then the drive back to the town took another 30-40mins or so.. Oh man! Lesson learnt. Key in exact address.
Finally reached our dinner place - Innocent Bystander
I was feeling ultra sick by dinner time.. Cold, tired, hungry, sick, weak, tummy pain, throat pain, anything you can name. >.< I was running a temperature too I think!
Didn't have the appetite to eat so I went with duck salad.. which was COLD! Aiyoh~
Despite my inability to appreciate good food, I could tell the salad was tasty!!
Went over to the local supermarket, got some instant soup and medicine, and off we went home to our cosy cottage! My oh my, the cottage at night was soooo dark I couldn't hardly see a thing. Chubs had to on the headlights of the car so as to show us the pathway. He made the warm instant soup for me, watched some tv, took my medicine, and had an early night.
The place was so dark outside and I even had thoughts that Chubs was gonna murder me and throw my body into the fields and I will die without anyone being able to rescue me.
What a day!! Haha.
